Second year plants in Susan Anderson's garden, Seattle, WA, USA. Susan writes: "The plants flowered early this year - we had a very mild winter. I still have some with 6 foot tall spires just opening. They are wonderful to behold." "A neighbor told me a friend had complained that delphinium don't do well in the Pacific NW. She told the friend to drive by my house and see what good New Zealand stock looks like. A bit of February slug slaughtering, a bit of bonemeal in March, then stand back a watch them grow." "This year's seedlings are almost 2 feet high already. They will bloom in August and I'll decide which ones are blue enough to keep
(although I may have to add in the deep purples - they have been getting raves, too)." |
